Day 3 - Birds, Brothers, Buddies and The Fox

I woke up to the sound of natures call and dug my first "cat hole"

I washed my hands, packed up, started hiking and soon met Mark, a bird watcher from Madison, Wisconsin.

Searching for mountain quail and gray vireo. Happy hunting, Mark!

And met three brothers hiking together

I suggested trail names of Huey, Dewey and Louie, maybe it'll stick!

I was overcome with the sweet smell of ponderosa pines when we transitioned from desert to forest.

And then I saw a big bushy tail scurry across the trail. I hiked up to where it had crossed, looked over and there it was, a magnificent kit fox. We both paused, looked into each others eyes, and shared a special moment. I bowed, it bowed, and then it was off.
