Day 7 - Eagle Rock and Desert Oases

It was a swift and social hike to Warner Springs. I experienced my first desert rain shower:

Shared food and conversation with a couple of friends from Texas:

Took some pictures at Eagle Rock:

And even met some real life Cowboys

And then we reached a hiker sort of heaven, complete with grandmothers offering foot baths, coffee, food, and loving kindness.

Mary was particularly helpful and a delight to be around.

Thank you Mary, you are a star.

I caught up with some friends from the AT, hiked on, and then enjoyed a campfire with friends old and new alike.

We experienced a day of contrasting terrain.

From this.

From this.

Into this.

Into this.

It was a day of natural wonders and and an affirmation of the kindness and generosity of the human spirit.

Thank you for all of the comments and words of encouragement, it has brought me great joy to share the first week of the journey with you.
