Day 9 - 20 to Idyllwild

Today was a swift 20 mile hike to the beautiful mountain town of Idyllwild, a mile high in elevation and chock full of cozy coffee shops, wine bars, and cheerfully stinky hikers.

We climbed over 3,000 feet in elevation, it felt good to "get on up!"

There was trail magic and a free library at mile 145.

Yay!!!

I reached the road by 5:30 and was immediately picked up by Dave and Kathy on their way home from work.

Such kindhearted and generous souls.

They showed me around town and shared how they often pick up hikers on their way home from work. I was number 15 or so for the season and their car still smelled good! I hope it still does. :-)

I spent some time at the library where Gayla and Collette took good care of me, helping me make some color copies of the upcoming trail detour and offering me a free book. Thanks ladies, you were so good to me.

I camped at Mt. San Jacinto State Park and cherished the glow of a campfire with my fellow hikers.

$3 camping, thank you for accommodating us so reasonably.

I made a video shortly before bed, watch it to find out the book I picked out at the library. I'll give you a hint, it closely resembled my hometown. ;-)
