Day 33 - Friends in LA

There are many "firsts" experienced on a trip such as this. This morning I was treated to fresh coconut water for the first time.

Mmm... Delicioso!

We enjoyed some breakfast of avocados, bananas, and other delightfully tasty "real" foods.

Julio and Danila, my amigos from LA.

We spent the morning hiking through the Vasquez Rocks, named after a man who once hid out amongst these rock outcroppings, the man whom Zorro was fashioned after.

What a good looking bunch!

Who would have thought we would be on the PCT?!

It was a magical time getting to catch up with my grade school friend. Danila has traveled all over the world since we last saw each other over a decade ago.

And she hasn't aged a day.

Danila and Julio brought all sorts of edible goodness and we shared it with my fellow hikers by hiking southbound on the PCT and greeting them with cookies and candy.

Here we are hanging out with Lucky and Sweet Tea after our hike.

It was SO wonderful to spend time with Danila and Julio. They have such warm hearts and joyful spirits, and shared so much with me.

Thank you my friends, I love you!!!

I waited out the heat in town and then hiked out with some friends in the early evening. I set my pack down to camp at a nice flat spot and then a rattlesnake literally popped out of a hole in the middle of the site and informed me that this spot was taken.

I promised to pass the word along.

I climbed up the mountain for a bit and found a beautiful spot overlooking the valley and the slowly setting sun.
