Day 48 - Sierra Bound

We enjoyed an an "all you can eat"  Pancake breakfast, and the flap jack flipper cheerfully noted that over 60 of us were being fed, close to the record number he had served on a given Sunday.

We leisurely packed up and shared a pint of Chunky Monkey before saying our goodbyes and heading back to the trail.

The trail followed the Kern river for several miles and after hiking for an hour or so, we could resist it no longer. Some of our friends had the same idea!

After sharing some fun times and cooling off, we headed back into what still felt like the desert. 

But we were climbing steadily.

And then approached our first meadow.

We were filled with joy to walk through this lovely sea of green.
