Day 50 - High Altitude

We spent the day above 9,000 feet and the high altitude left us out of breath at times and made some hikers sick. The scenery was gorgeous and I took some side trips to climb on some of the many boulders we encountered.

It was like being in the desert except it was cool and breezy.

These trees seemed to be hugging.

And the rocks seemed pretty close too.

Susie hurt her knee so Dave helped carry her pack to the trailhead for the nearby town. He is an ultralight backpacker and his pack fit snugly inside of hers.  Here he is preparing to take off:

She was relieved to have the weight off her back and kept in good spirits as she said goodbye to everyone.

I had a bout of diarrhea in the early evening but Brit helped me out with some over the counter medicine that settled my stomach.

I camped with Brit and Rachel at a scenic overlook and we enjoyed some Sleepy Time tea while watching the sun set on our second full day in The Sierras.
