Day 71 - Entering Yosemite

Today, perhaps more than in days previous, I took note of and appreciated the abundance of human craftsmanship that covered the path I tread.

This is a very popular section of trail, and special care has been taken to make it safe and stable for the many feet that traverse it each year.

I wonder what it was like before all this work had been done.

But am incredibly grateful for the many hands that have labored to make this paradise passable.

Sometimes I'm blown away at the intricacy and artistry of those who have dedicated parts of their lives to sharing this beauty.

Wayne is one such person, and is spending his summer as a backcountry ranger, checking in with hikers to make sure they have everything they need (including the applicable permits and bear canisters).

It wasn't all human handiwork, though, the work of nature along this section of trail was nothing short of miraculous and awe inspiring.

The hills were alive with many forms of life, peacefully existing together.

After descending into the valley, we set up camp next to a stream and watched the day turn into night to the soft accompaniment of the whispering water.
