Day 65 - Silver Pass to Purple Lake

We headed up toward Silver Pass, a fairly easy climb compared to some of the higher passes we've climbed.

There were some gorgeous waterfalls along the way.

And atop the pass was a marmot watching over the land.

Such stately creatures.

Such stately creatures.

They seem to enjoy having their picture taken.

They seem to enjoy having their picture taken.

It was overcast most of the day and we kept wondering when the rain would come.

But it held off for the time being.

And made for some great picture taking.

And made for some great picture taking.

We followed along the nicely groomed trail, and soon encountered an assortment of rocks that seemed to be trying to tell us something.

Not these rocks, I'm pretty sure this is a half finished stairway.

Ta Da!!!

Ta Da!!!

With 1/3 of the PCT under our belts, Britt and I enjoyed a celebratory dinner at Purple Lake and shared the warmth and glow of our campfire.

Just after dark, we saw a brilliant flash of light accompanied by a large boom, and then it poured for hours.

Nestled dryly in our tents and sleeping bags, we were grateful to be camping where we were and not further up the mountain.
