I woke up around 4:30 am to the sound and sensation of water sprinklers. I camped outside of the condo my friends rented and it seemed like a brilliant idea until I got soaked.
We gathered up our stuff and headed to the laundry mat to dry off and caffeinate at the coffee shop next door.
After a few hours of website work and airing things out, we hopped the trolley and headed back to the trail.
We caught a bus that took us to Mammoth Mountain and another one back to a very busy Reds Meadows.
We hiked a short ways and then had a picnic siesta to catch up on some sleep. It felt great to be back amongst the trees.
We enjoyed an evening stroll around Devil's Postpile National Monument.
A rare geological wonder.
And then found a nice flat spot near a waterfall, and slept to the soothing sound of water's descent.
