We had a mostly downhill hike into Belden, a small resort community along the trail.
We walked along the tops of the nearby mountains for half the day before our steep descent into the valley below.
Just before our descent, we walked by some incredible boulder fields reminiscent of the ones we encountered near the start of our trip.
From there it was down, down, down, for 3/4 of a vertical mile. The sun was starting to heat up so the increasing amounts of shade were a welcome sight the further we went down.
I reached the bottom waterless and thirsty and this kind soul offered me a cup of ice and his 5 gallon jug of water. Soooo good...
Apparently Belden was gearing up for an all out rave and we met lots of interestingly clad individuals roaming about and setting up shop for the weekend.
And other typical festival fare.
They were expecting 3,000 attendees and it seemed like a pretty fun place to party but we kept waking so we could pick up our packages at the nearby store.
Still Dream was the name of the festival, I think.
We made it to the post office just in time as they were closing early for a party of their own, but they allowed us inside and offered is our packages.
I received a glorious assortment of goodies from Italy, compliments of my friend Vanessa.
Oh my goodness, risotto and olives?! Truffles?! Thank you SO MUCH Vanessa!!!
A BIG thank you to my parents for receiving the goods from Italy and sending them along with some other delicious treats.
One happy camper.
We showered and laundered our clothes before heading back on the trail to hike a couple more hours to the fading sounds of electronic music thumping in the distance.
